Advent 2009

I'm slowly getting over my feeling of being totally under-prepared for Christmas and starting to instead get excited! It's fun having a 3 yo in the house who has a better understanding of what Christmas entails! :-) So, with this next Sunday marking the first Sunday of Advent I've started to think about what we'll do to celebrate and count-down the days until Christmas. I have just printed off the readings we used last year to put in our new-to-us Advent hanging along with a chocolate and also we'll be making a Christmas Booklet with these colouring in pages that illustrate the Christmas story so nicely (well actually a few are a bit goofy but the idea is great).

I'm also excited to try out some new Christmasy cookie recipes I downloaded from and picked up the ingredients for today. Next Tuesday we'll set up the Christmas tree and other decorations, dig out the Christmas DVDs & CDs. I'm also going to give the Christmas Dinner for the Freezer meal plan a go to save time and sanity on Christmas Day for our meal since we're staying here this year and will be celebrating with just our little family.

What are you all doing in the next month as you seek to enjoy the season and focus on the reason for the season?

I'm so excited about introducing the girls to advent this year (and Elie being old enough!). Hunting around for things to use for a Jesse Tree. Grandma made an advent calendar, and its filled with verses and goodies... I love hopping on your blog to see what the fam is doing each year for advent!

A Jesse Tree sounds awesome! I think we'll do that one year too. Let us know how it goes! Isn't it fun sharing the season with kids?
