Oxytocin: The cause of repetitive strain injuries

Just doing some required reading for my Breastfeeding Counsellor Training and this sentence in the chapter on "How breastfeeding works" jumped out at me as amusing.

Oxytocin causes the 'let-down', or ejection of milk {during a breastfeed}. It also lowers your blood pressure, heart rate and anxiety levels, while at the same time increasing insulin and blood glucose levels as well as your pain threshold, and has even been shown to decrease our resistance to performing repetitive tasks (a bonus only mothers could appreciate!).

So THAT'S why I can keep changing nappies, redirecting childish behavious continuously and visiting the park to push Shelby on the swing multiple times a week!!
